New Year clear up – shrinking the backlog

01/01/2026

A happy New Year to you all. It is going to be an interesting one on any measure.

I’ve had a few days off, and so, in an attempt to enter 2026 with a clearer conscience and a lot fewer browser tabs open, I’ve been working on the backlog of cases I’ve been meaning to write up, but hadn’t got to yet. So, here are the catch-up posts:

Housing conditions and Illegal evictions

Homelessness and Allocations

Leasehold issues

Highlights include what is probably the highest ever damages award for an illegal eviction, but there is a lot else to consider.

There are some 15 case notes in total, in case you felt you were short of something to do in the new year…  On my part, while the to-do pile hasn’t entirely gone away, it is at least more manageable.

If you are reading this via email, the posts will all be below. It will be a very long email. I apologise for nothing.
