Job ads – Tower Hamlets, London/Sheffield

15/02/2026
Tower Hamlets Law Centre
Housing Solicitor
Salary:  £35,300 to £38,600 p.a. + generous terms and conditions.
Tower Hamlets Law Centre helps some of the most vulnerable people in London’s East End. Since our foundation in 1975, we have earned a fine reputation amongst our clients and supporters as skilled and determined legal advisers to the local community.
We’re looking for a housing solicitor to help work on our Legal Aid Agency contract covering legal help, certificated cases and representation at court as part of the duty solicitor scheme. We would love to hear from you if you already qualify as a legal aid supervisor or could do so soon. You’ll need to have at least one year’s experience of advising and assisting in housing law, together with a talent for explaining complex legal ideas in simple language and the ability to manage a demanding workload.

Anti Trafficking and Labour Exploitation Unit

ATLEU is recruiting a housing lawyer in London or Sheffield.

The deadline to apply is Monday 9 March 2026 at 10am. All the information is here: https://www.atleu.org.uk/join-us

You would be working alongside a housing paralegal to support your work, plus our public lawyers. It is a role that would lead on housing related work for ATLEU. You could do more traditional housing law, but it would offer the chance to do public law cases that relate to accommodation and support. You would be able to run cases involving asylum support and accessing accommodation under the Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract. You could also run public law cases beyond the housing remit if you are interested in this. You do not need to have experience of working with survivors of trafficking as training will be given around this, and there is the rest of the small, friendly ATLEU team to offer support. You can make a big impact with the potential cases you can run if you are interested in strategic litigation.

We are ideally looking for someone who meets the legal aid housing supervisor requirements or is capable of reaching them within a reasonable time period.

We think ATLEU is a great place to work and we have benefits including a 7% employer pension contribution, personal training budget, clinical supervision and a personal wellbeing account. The team encompasses many skills including policy, communications and training – all of which your work could feed into, and that could amplify the outcomes you achieve and build capacity in others.

We particularly welcome applicants from those who are significantly underrepresented in our sector, such as individuals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities and people with lived experience of migration and trafficking.

If you would like an informal conversation about any aspect of the role prior to applying, please contact recruitment@atleu.org.uk and we would be happy to speak to you.
