We help thousands of people each year by offering free, confidential and independent advice and campaigning to overcome the root causes of the housing emergency.

SC789 – Prison Link Cymru Worker

Wrexham Office

22.5 hours per week

£28,356 per annum (pro rata) – £18,229pa

Shelter Cymru offers a wide range of advice and support to those in housing need within Wales.

We are looking for a Prison Link Cymru Worker who will be responsible for delivering a service to Welsh clients in custody who have housing problems, and also to those who will be homeless upon release.

We are developing a flexible and hybrid working approach for all staff, with a minimum of 1 day per week working in the office and have offices across Wales

Employees are provided with an office base but this role will be based in our Wrexham office.

Bradford Citizens Advice

Role We’re seeking to appoint an experienced Housing Solicitor or Housing Adviser.
Location Office based with the option of hybrid working
Offices across the Bradford District and various Outreaches and Court attendances as required
Salary Between £30,000 – 36,000
Dependant on qualification and experience
Hours Full-time (37 hours per week)
Reporting to Principal Housing Solicitor

The post holder will work as part of a well-established team, providing a reliable and effective money advice service, across all advice channels and access points utilised by Bradford and Airedale Citizens Advice & Law Centre.
To be successful in this role you will be able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, exhibit excellent listening and questioning skills and to present and conduct yourself in a professional and courteous manner with all clients seeking support.
This role is project-funded, so you will be working to a target, allowing you to efficiently support as many clients as possible in this busy area of advice
The Housing Solicitor / Adviser will handle their own Legal Aid, housing, residential landlord and tenant defence caseload of matters from instruction through to completion, acting exclusively on behalf of residential tenants, including but not limited to:
● Possession Claims for rent arrears, breach of tenancy conditions  and anti social behaviour both in the private and social sector;
● Possession claims under the accelerated procedure
● Anti-social behaviour injunctions/committal proceedings
● Unlawful Eviction Injunctions/claims
● Disrepair Claims
● Homelessness, s202 reviews and  s204 appeals to the County Court and beyond
● Judicial reviews
The postholder will have:
• Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with a range of clients, and internal and external stakeholders of various levels.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to adapt, prioritise deadlines and competing tasks in a fast-paced environment

Vacancy – Paralegal

Hopkin Murray Beskine has a vacancy for a paralegal to assist our busy housing and public law team.

We are a long-established Islington firm with clients from across London and beyond, who come to us because of our expertise in family, housing and public law. We have a thriving legal aid practice alongside privately funded work. Our solicitors are leaders in their fields, and we are recommended by the Chambers UK and Legal 500 guides.

Paralegals in our housing and public law team provide support in a range of interesting work, including judicial review, housing possession and disrepair claims in the County Court, and homelessness challenges and appeals. We have excellent resources including a modern practice management system, which you will be trained to use. The role will also include providing some administrative support and some reception cover.

The role will require someone with an interest in housing and public law who is well organised and has good communication skills. You will be expected to work hard, be flexible, produce excellent written work and establish relationships with a range of clients. We provide a collaborative workplace where you will be well supported and supervised.

We expect applicants to have a law degree and/or to have undertaken some post-graduate legal training. It would be a suitable role for applicants who will be completing part-time post-graduate studies towards qualification as a solicitor or barrister. Previous relevant experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

The appointment will be for a fixed term of 12 months, with a possibility of extension.
