Housing Solicitor / Caseworker
Based at either our Coventry Office or our Birmingham Office

Salary: Solicitor: Up to £33,565 depending on experience. Caseworker: Up to £30,904 depending on experience

Hours : 37 Hours

We are a charity that provides free specialist legal advice to people in Coventry and Birmingham who are most in need. We advocate for people, challenge unfair decisions, take cases to the highest courts and work in partnerships with other voluntary and statutory organisations. We work tirelessly to fulfil our vision of a society where people’s rights are upheld, their needs met, and in which everybody can thrive.

We are looking for an experienced Housing solicitor / caseworker who will be part of our Housing team specialising in dealing with a range of legal aid housing matters including possessions, evictions, homelessness and disrepair. You will also assist with the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme. You will be compassionate, committed and enjoy working within a team who work with clients to resolve all their interconnecting legal needs. Ideally you will have experience of working with people who have experienced disadvantage or who have experienced trauma.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play an essential role in a friendly organisation that is trying to make a difference to the lives of those people in our communities that are most vulnerable.

The Law Centre operates in both Coventry and Birmingham. Both offices are within walking distance of a railway station. Our terms and conditions include flexible working including hybrid working where appropriate, 28 days holiday pro rata (rising by 1 day per year to 35 days after 5 years’ service) plus 8 additional statutory days, and pension scheme membership.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join our Legal team at Shelter Cymru.  The post holder will work closely with the Solicitors to assist with undertaking direct casework under a Legal Aid certificate across Wales.
