Paralegal – Housing and Property Disputes – Fixed 2-year contract

Anthony Gold is currently recruiting for a Housing and Property Disputes paralegal to support a varied and interesting caseload, based at our Elephant & Castle and on occasions at our Streatham office for a 24-month contract.

About the role:

The Paralegal role for Housing will be 2-year fixed term contract and will be responsible for supporting fee-earners in the area of housing litigation cases. This will be based between our Elephant & Castle office and our Streatham office.

Job specification

Your role will include the following, but additional tasks may be added as appropriate for the role:

To assist in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients, including:

  • Working with a partner and solicitors on repairs focused litigation cases.
  • Interviewing clients, taking and drafting statements
  • Casework & providing advice to clients.
  • Handling new client enquiries
  • To assist where requested the provision of legal advice to clients, under supervision.
  • Delegate and supervise tasks where appropriate.
  • Work as a part of several teams under the supervision of a Partner of the firm.
  • Provide an efficient and friendly service to our clients.
  • Produce plain English letters and documents as required.
  • Manage professionally and confidentially, written and telephone correspondence with clients, other solicitors and third parties
  • Maintain client care standards as set out in the firm’s terms of business and office manual.
  • Continue to develop your legal ability by:
  1. Keeping fully up-to-date with the relevant areas of law and practice
  2. Understanding the fee structure and costs aspect of funding
  3. to comply with the rules of conduct and regulation governing our practice

Qualifications and experience

  • Previous experience of working as a paralegal in civil litigation preferably housing
  • Degree in Law/CILEx or previous experience of working in a similar role

Salary of £25,000 – £26,500 based on experience. Benefits include pension, private medical cover, life insurance, income protection and season ticket loan. We are currently working in a hybrid way.

Housing Solicitor

Centre 70 is a successful charity, established in 1970. We offer a range of specialist advice, counselling and wellbeing support to people in Lambeth and surrounding areas at our centre and at outreach locations (presently remote working). We have specialist Debt, Housing and Benefits projects and a dedicated Utilities Debt advice project. We also provide Student Finance and Grant Advice. We have a Counselling and Wellbeing service. We are therefore able to provide person centred holistic help to clients.

We are seeking a Principal Housing Solicitor to work in our small friendly housing team to provide quality specialist advice and casework. Advice is provided mainly through our LAA housing contract.  The work will be varied and rewarding.  We encourage flexible working including working from home so this post could suit someone who does not reside near to our main office and who would only want to work in the office minimal time. We strive to have good working conditions and that is reflected in the high level of staff retention and those that have returned to work at C70.

F/T Salary (35 hrs): £ 39,077

Hours: 35 hr pw open to part time working.

This post is funded by Trust for London for a Housing Caseworker to provide a housing advice service including at outreach locations, promote awareness of legal rights and work with volunteers. The work will be varied and rewarding.  We encourage flexible working including working from home. We strive to have good working conditions and that is reflected in the high level of staff retention and those that have returned to work at C70.

Closing date for applications is 12 noon Tuesday 8 March. The interviews, which will be conducted virtually over Microsoft TEAMS, are scheduled for Friday 11 March.

F/T Salary (35 hrs): £ 32,909 pa (spine 25) P/T salary pro rata.
