Hopkin Murray Beskine

Vacancies for family paralegals and housing/public law paralegal

Hopkin Murray Beskine has the following vacancies:

(1) Paralegal in the housing and public law team;

(2) Paralegal in the private family law team;

(3) Paralegal in the public family law team.

We are a long established Islington firm with clients from across London and beyond, who come to us because of our expertise in family, housing and public law. We have a thriving legal aid practice alongside our substantial private family work. Our solicitors are leaders in their fields and we are recommended by the Chambers UK and Legal 500 guides.

Paralegals in our housing and public law team support solicitors in a range of interesting work, including judicial review, housing possession and disrepair claims in the County Court, illegal eviction, and homelessness challenges and appeals.

The work carried out by our private family team includes acting in privately funded separation, divorce and financial remedy, disputes relating to child contact, domestic abuse, international and domestic relocation and international child abduction.

Our public family law solicitors are specialists in care proceedings and frequently act for the court-appointed Children’s Guardian on behalf of children. The team also acts for parents and other relatives in care and adoption proceedings.

The role will require someone with an interest in family law and/or housing and public law who is well organised and has good communication skills. You will be expected to work hard, be flexible, produce excellent written work and establish relationships with a range of clients. We provide a collaborative workplace where you will be well supported and supervised, and we have excellent resources including a modern practice management system which you will be trained to use. The role will also include providing some administrative support.

We expect applicants to have a law degree or to have undertaken some post-graduate legal training. It would be a suitable role for applicants who will be completing part-time post-graduate studies towards qualification as a solicitor or barrister. Previous relevant experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

The position will be for a fixed term of 12 months, with a possibility of further progression.
