Salary scale – £29,777 to £36,648 subject to a pay increase (SCP 19 to 28) starting salary will depend on experience and qualifications.  Role is subject to a pay review.

Derbyshire Law Centre are a leading Law Centre provide specialist legal advice to communities across Derbyshire. We are adaptive, innovative, and energetic, with a collective management structure and multiple funding streams.

The centre operates on a collective management structure, who have day to day responsibilities for the running of the charity.  This role will be a member of the collective and is ideal for someone who has the legal experience but wants to develop their business skills and knowledge.

The successful applicant will join an active, experienced and growing housing team that provides advice primarily under a legal aid contract. The role requires a good knowledge of housing law and the ability to work with and advise the public by phone, virtually, in person and in writing. You must have a willingness to work in partnership with our funders and to set up and take part in outreach sessions in areas covered by the Erewash Borough Council.   ALS accreditation is an essential requirement. Experience of working under a legal aid contract is advantageous.

The role is suitable for an experienced solicitor, legal executive or caseworker. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can start immediately, but will wait for the ideal person

Location of post

The post involves working on project funded work in Erewash and therefore requires 2 days a week in Erewash Borough Council offices in Ilkeston.  The remaining days will be at the Chesterfield office, Ripley or home working.

We work a hybrid system where the initial 3 months of the 6-month probation period will be worked from the office. On completion of a 3-month assessment, full time staff are only required to work 3 days per week from the office.

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications

Applicants should have experience of providing legal advice across a variety of platforms and be an ALS Status. Due to the structure of the organisation, the role title will be caseworker, however, it is suitable for a Solicitor or Legal Executive.
