Specialist Housing Caseworker
The Post-holder will offer housing law (residential landlord and tenant) advice and representation to clients. The post-holder may also be required to provide support in relation to housing law on other contracts.
Salary: £27,344 – £29,439 (Plus 5% pension contribution)
Hours: 37 per week
Holidays: 25 days plus 8 bank holidays plus 3 additional days

ABOUT THE LEGAL TEAM
The Legal Team is a high achieving in house legal team providing litigation and transactional property legal services. As an entrepreneurial department and team, we are constantly looking at how we can add value and improve the services provided to A2Dominion so that it can reinvest back into its social purpose. We also support professional and personal development, and many of our team members have been promoted into their roles and supported to qualification. It is because of this success, that we now have a number of opportunities in our team, owing to team members moving on to new roles consisting of promotions and new areas of law. The litigation team in particular, deals with all areas of housing management including leasehold, carries out ASB and possession and other litigation, and currently, there is a disrepair focus. The team is inclusive and diverse, and work really well as a team. We’re looking for people who can enhance our offering, are team spirited, and those who maintain an interest in what is happening in law and within A2Dominion.

ABOUT THE ROLES
The inhouse legal counsel – Team Manager post includes both supervisory and delivery responsibilities and an expectation that you can manage both a caseload of housing management matters for the internal client group and the management of a team; all the while ensuring compliance with SRA and Money Laundering requirements. The team currently consists of 3 in house legal counsel (you will be line managing between 3-6 lawyers/juniors or a mix of both) and the team supported by up to 3-4 paralegals /paralegal apprentices. In terms of delivery, you will have sound judgment and deliver excellent legal advice and be comfortable advising the Group in respect of policy and procedure where required, and provide training as appropriate. The role requires allocation of work, regular team contact, and reporting on activity, cost savings achieved and income generated.
You will be a qualified lawyer with a right to practice in England and Wales, have experience of litigation in particular in landlord and tenant and be financially literate. This role has supervisory responsibility as well line management responsibilities, so we are looking for a solicitor with previous line management experience who knows how to support a successful and high performing team and keep them engaged.
The inhouse legal counsel post is for a competent housing management lawyer able to work without supervision, and with a love of the law and zest for ensuring that our client’s properties are fit for purpose and inhabited by those entitled to be doing so. You will have sound judgment and deliver excellent legal advice and be comfortable advising the Group in respect of policy and procedure where required, and provide training as appropriate.
You will be a qualified lawyer with a right to practice in England and Wales, have experience of litigation in particular in landlord and tenant (preferably from a landlord/developer’s perspective) and be financially literate. You will be expected to support the paralegals in their roles where they are assisting you on your cases and be a positive influence on the wider team.
The paralegal (apprentice) posts are for law graduates with some legal experience, and a dream of qualifying and practicing law. You’ll have an interest in social housing/landlord and tenant and a passion for learning.

Anti Trafficking and Labour Exploitation Unit (ATLEU)

ATLEU is looking for a dynamic and committed individual to join our legal team as a Paralegal to assist our Housing and Public Law solicitors. This is an exciting role, offering opportunities for growth and development, to build your housing and public law experience and knowledge through working on emerging issues affecting victims of trafficking, and effecting change for this hugely vulnerable group. The role involves providing housing and public law advice and representation to survivors of trafficking and slavery under a legal aid contract and will work primarily on housing cases.
We are a friendly, multidisciplinary team and this role offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills under supervision about housing and public law. You would also work alongside colleagues practising immigration, compensation, working in finance, fundraising and operations, and who are involved in cutting edge policy work and improving survivor participation in the sector.
ATLEU welcomes applications from candidates with different levels of experience. This might mean you are at the start of your legal career with limited casework experience or more experienced and currently practising in legal aid with housing or public law experience. If you are at the start of your career or even if you have more experience but are new to working with survivors of trafficking, we welcome your application.
