We are looking for an experienced Housing solicitor / caseworker who will be part of our Housing team specialising in dealing with a range of legal aid housing matters including possessions, evictions, homelessness and disrepair. You will also assist with the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme. You will be compassionate, committed and enjoy working within a team who work with clients to resolve all their interconnecting legal needs. Ideally you will have experience of working with people who have experienced disadvantage or who have experienced trauma.

The Law Centre operates in both Coventry and Birmingham. Both offices are within walking distance of a railway station. Our terms and conditions include flexible working including hybrid working where appropriate, 28 days holiday pro rata (rising to 35 days after 5 years’ service) plus 8 additional statutory days, and pension scheme membership.

Housing Solicitor/Experienced Caseworker

- Initial contract: 1 year fixed, with a view to extending
We require a solicitor/experienced caseworker for our friendly and dynamic housing team.
The successful candidate will run their own caseload of legal help and certificated cases for clients and will also participate in the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme. We also hold a LAA contract in Public Law, so experience in this area would be an advantage.
We have pro bono work in the UKSC and Court of Appeal, and a successful candidate may benefit from the experience of working on those cases.

Solicitor/Experienced Caseworker – Child Poverty Role
• Salary: depending on experience
• Working hours: 35 per week

We require a solicitor/experienced caseworker to undertake a unique role seeking to reduce child poverty, working with young people and families.
The successful candidate will be keen to engage in a mixed role including client-based and strategic litigation across social welfare and public law categories, training, campaigning and policy work. They will also participate in the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme for which training can be provided.
We have pro bono work in the UKSC and Court of Appeal, and a successful candidate may benefit from the experience of co-working on those cases.
