Social Housing solicitor 1-5 years pqe

We have a vacancy for a full-time housing solicitor in our busy social housing department.  We have a varied and interesting practice. The successful candidate must be able to take over and conduct an existing case load comprising:

  • Defending possession proceedings
  • Disrepair counter claims
  • S202 reviews and appeals
  • Suitability of accommodation reviews
  • Unlawful evictions
  • Anti-social behaviour injunctions and committal proceedings
  • Judicial review

Most of the work is under legal aid certificates and knowledge of LA funding and CCMS is essential.  We are a friendly and diverse Lexcel accredited firm who have been established in Hackney for thirty years and have a vibrant local and London wide practice.

We are looking for someone who has a commitment to housing law and wishes to  have a varied and interesting  caseload.  The ideal candidate should have been admitted as a solicitor for at least one year although new qualified or trainee solicitors will be considered provided they possess the relevant experience.

Salary dependant on experience .

We are looking to recruit a full-time Housing solicitor to undertake a wide range of casework including defending possession proceedings, counterclaims, homelessness appeals and public law actions

You will be a qualified solicitor and have a minimum of two years’ experience of casework and representation in housing law or public law. You will have experience of working under a Legal Aid Contract. You must have an ability to manage your caseload and achieve billing targets.

We offer excellent terms and conditions, flexible working and 35 days annual leave. Applicants who want to work part-time would be considered.

Salary: £31,000 up to £37,920 (depending on number of years PQE)
