Job specification
Your role will include the following, but additional tasks may be added as appropriate for the role:
- To assist in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients.
- To assist where requested the provision of legal advice to clients, under supervision.
- Delegate and supervise tasks where appropriate.
- Work as a part of a team under the supervision of a Partner of the firm.
- Provide an efficient and friendly service to our clients.
- Manage professionally and confidentially, written and telephone correspondence with clients, other solicitors and third parties
- Maintain client care standards as set out in the firm’s terms of business and office manual.
- Continue to develop your legal ability by:
- Keeping fully up-to-date with the relevant areas of law and practice
- Understanding the fee structure and costs aspect of funding
- to comply with the rules of conduct and regulation governing our practice
Qualifications and personal specification
- Degree in Law or previous experience of working in a similar role
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Job Type: Contract 24 months

We are seeking a competent and highly motivated individual to work in our Legal Services Department. You will be a:
– Paralegal
– Cilex
– 0 to 2 years PQE solicitor
Duties include: advising on all areas of housing management law including disrepair, ASB, access injunctions, tenancy fraud, succession, rent arrears and desk top fraud investigations. You will also have a full caseload of litigated matters and will be expected to conduct the majority of your own advocacy as well as settling your own pleadings. Other aspects of the role include preparing and presenting training across the business as well as the preparation of key housing management policies, procedures and processes.
The role reports directly to the Legal Partner (solicitor) on a fixed term contract of 18 months full time (37.5 hours per week). Work outside of core hours will sometimes be necessary, for example to visit residents at home.
What we want from you…..
Substantial experience in housing management, using common sense, intuition, and resourcefulness to successfully solve complex problems.
Up to date and detailed knowledge of housing and property law and court procedure and how to apply it effectively and practically within a regulated environment.
Knowledge and experience of related areas of civil and criminal law.
Experience of managing and resolving complex legal casework, drafting legal documents, and court room advocacy.
Experience working in a deadline-driven environment where multi-tasking and independent decision making is required without compromising on attention to detail.
Experience of working in a diverse organisation, delivering a customer focused housing management service and taking ownership of issues.
Empathetic of those suffering from anti-social behaviour.
Excellent research and analysis skills for effective collection, assimilation and redistribution of information as training programmes, high level written reports and briefing papers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent court room advocacy and negotiation skills.
Computer literacy including the ability to use a wide range of software packages.
Flexibility of working hours to include occasional weekend and evening working where required.
