Choice Based Letting Guidance

02/09/2008

The Department for Communities and Local Government has released new guidance for local authorities in regard to the operation of choice based lettings (CBL) schemes. This link is to the PDF of the Guidance.

A post with an initial consideration of the Guidance will be along in a scant few days time, because we’re nice people here at Nearly Legal.

Choice based lettings comes from the DELFT Model of the nederlands which is developing throughout the UK. Ours says to match the prospective tenants requirements with the advertised property. However, unlike the private sector regional RSL’s are not doing this and insisting that a property be bid for and then viewed. With a dearth of information about the social housing, when I view and refuse because it doesnt match my requirements the RSL is penalising me for refusal. Anything more illogical devised by Communities and Local Government is hard to imagine.
