Overview of key responsibilities

We are pleased to announce a vacancy for a Solicitor able to manage a caseload in traditional tenant housing (possession, disrepair, homelessness) and who has the capability and interest to work on building defects cases. The successful candidate should be 0 – 5 years PQE; more experienced candidates also considered.

Bindmans has offered the full range of housing advice to tenants for 50 years. We are seeking a solicitor able to assist in this work and with experience of legal aid and private funding and representing individuals and organisations, including the Official Solicitor.

Skills/knowledge requirements

Essential:

·        Qualified Solicitor

·        Good knowledge and experience of housing law.

·        Excellent negotiating experience and skills

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills

·        Some experience of promotion of solicitor’s work

·        Efficient and cost-effective work practices

·        Knowledge and use of time recording systems and IT

·        Thorough understanding of the obligations, including ethical obligations, of working as a solicitor

Desirable:

The successful candidate should also have the following:

·        Excellent people skills

·        Good research and document analysis skills

·        Knowledge and experience of the legal aid system

·        Knowledge and experience of building defects claims (under section 1 of the DPA 1972) would be an advantage but not essential.

·        Knowledge and experience of Court of Protection and MCA and/or Community Care
