We also work to influence local and national policy to improve public services for the most vulnerable.  We use the law not only to resolve the legal problem for the individual but to achieve wider change.

We have small premises in a vibrant community setting but operate a hybrid system of working.  We specialize in social welfare law and hold Legal Aid contracts in Crime, Education, Housing, Immigration/Asylum, Public Law and Welfare Benefits.

Our housing team is currently comprised of 4 housing solicitors, two trainee solicitors and a housing campaigns worker.  You will be working alongside an experienced team committed to providing a high-quality service to Harrow residents.

Harrow Law Centre is striving to ensure our workplace reflects our principles of equality and fairness. We therefore operate a system of pay parity for all staff and applicants must be committed to this principle. For the application pack email:  pamelafitzpatrick@harrowlawcentre.org.uk

Citizens Advice Leeds

Social Welfare Law Solicitor

Citizens Advice Leeds works for a fairer society by helping people to resolve financial, housing, employment and other legal issues through telephone, online and face to face services.  In 2024 we’re entering an exciting phase of development to increase access to free legal advice in Leeds and we’re seeking a Solicitor with PQE in a Social Welfare Law specialism to join our legal advice team.

The legal advice team is part of our Specialist Services department, working alongside caseworkers and support workers to respond to the complex and multiple problems our clients face. We would welcome applications from candidates who can strengthen our capacity in Housing advice, or bring expertise in Immigration, Discrimination or Family law.

The Social Welfare Law Solicitor will carry their own caseload , ensuring that quality and performance standards are consistently met, and support the development of caseworkers in their specialism.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years recent post qualification experience in a Social Welfare law subject.  Alongside legal advice skills, we’re seeking candidates with a commitment to access to justice and an interest in working in the not for profit sector.
