What do you need?

Key Accountabilities

Housing Law – trainee solicitor vacancy

Housing Law – trainee solicitor
This position involves working in a busy Housing Department assisting with work undertaken as part of the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme in Liverpool Civil Court.
Areas of work include:
Housing disrepair Re-possessions Debt advice
Anti-social behaviour injunctions Unlawful evictions Homelessness
The successful applicant should have the ability to organise, monitor and evaluate their own workload in order to meet targets and deadlines. Strength of character is needed to deal with distressed and/or vulnerable clients. Good interpersonal skills are essential.
This position is sponsored through the Legal Aid Agency Training Contract Grants Scheme. The scheme is funded by The Ministry of Justice with the aim of increasing the number of legal aid training providers available to help those facing possession proceedings.
The successful applicant must be in post by 30th November 2023.
Experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be given. The successful applicant will need to have completed the LPC or be undertaking the LPC part-time.
Applicants must have a commitment to housing law publicly funded work and work in this area for at least three months of continued employment after qualification as a solicitor.
The application process consists of the submission of an application form. If candidates are successful at that stage, they will then undertake a one-hour written paper and an interview involving a short presentation.
The proposed timetable is as follows:
Submission of completed Application Form: 16th October 2023
Written paper and interviews: week commencing 23rd October 2023
Offer of Training Contract: 27th October 2023
