We are recruiting for a full-time Housing Solicitor at Mary Ward Legal Centre. Mary Ward is a fabulous place to work. We have 35 days annual leave (not including bank holidays), TOIL and flexible working. Applicants who want to work part-time will be considered.
The role is for a minimum of 2 years’ casework experience and you will have to be a qualified solicitor. Salary is £31,000 – £37,920 depending on PQE.

Lawstop is looking for Housing Solicitors to join our expanding team. We have an office in Barnes, by the river!, and in Hammersmith next to the tube station. Positions are also available in Crawley and Cornwall.
We are an innovative legal aid law firm which advises and represents clients on a wide-range of complex work in housing, public law, community care, immigration, and education. Some recent exciting challenges include R(Ncube) v Brighton and Hove City Council (2021) EWHC 578 (Admin), Uduezue v Bexley LBC (2023) EWCA Civ 322, and R (Cort) v. London Borough of Lambeth [2022] EWHC 1085 (Admin). We hold legal aid contracts around the country, and also undertake private work. We’re on the look out for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Housing Solicitor/Legal Executive with proven experience in housing law to hit the ground running in a close-knit, busy in-house legal team. This role will see you dealing with all aspects of tenancy and leasehold management law including; possession, disrepair, anti-social behaviour, plus other tenancy and leasehold issues including service charge disputes.

The role
To work as part of the in-house Legal Services Team.
- To provide a comprehensive in-house legal service to the Housing Services and Property Directorates on all aspects of tenancy and leasehold management law including possession, disrepair, anti-social behaviour, other tenancy and leasehold issues including service charge disputes.
- To represent the Trust within court proceedings and to act as its’ advocate in the County and Magistrate’s Courts and Residential Property Tribunal.
- To contribute to the drafting of housing management policy, the preparation of training materials and delivery of in-house legal training on issues of tenancy and leasehold management to the Trust’s staff.
What you’ll need to succeed

- Admission as a Solicitor in England & Wales or a Fellow of The Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX).
- Substantial post qualification experience (a minimum of 3 years PQE) in housing law acting on behalf of social landlords and tenants gained in private practice, local authority or in-house RP legal team.
- Detailed knowledge of housing and leasehold legislation, case law, litigation practice and procedure.
- Admission as a Solicitor in England & Wales or a Fellow of The Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX).
