About the role:
The Paralegal role for Housing will be 2-year fixed term contract, which can be extended and will be responsible for supporting fee-earners in the area of housing litigation cases. This will be based mainly at our Elephant & Castle office and occasional visits to our Streatham office.
Job specification
Your role will include the following, but additional tasks may be added as appropriate for the role:
To assist in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients, including:
- Working with a partner and solicitors on repairs focused litigation cases.
- Interviewing clients, taking and drafting statements
- Casework & providing advice to clients.
- Handling new client enquiries
- To assist where requested the provision of legal advice to clients, under supervision.
- Delegate and supervise tasks where appropriate.
- Work as a part of several teams under the supervision of a Partner of the firm.
- Provide an efficient and friendly service to our clients.
- Produce plain English letters and documents as required.
- Manage professionally and confidentially, written and telephone correspondence with clients, other solicitors and third parties
- Maintain client care standards as set out in the firm’s terms of business and office manual.
- Continue to develop your legal ability by:
- Keeping fully up-to-date with the relevant areas of law and practice
- Understanding the fee structure and costs aspect of funding
- to comply with the rules of conduct and regulation governing our practice
Qualifications and experience
- Previous experience of working as a paralegal in civil litigation preferably housing
- Degree in Law/CILEx or previous experience of working in a similar role

Salary- £35,000-£40,000 depending on experience
Key duties:
This is a new post within the organisation part funded by the London Borough of Camden’ Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) project.
The postholder will be required to provide support to families and victims of domestic abuse referred by the local authority. The postholder will be expected to have a strong background in housing casework and a working knowledge of other legal issues concerning VAWG.

New Law Centre in North Wales
Job Title: Senior Housing Solicitor
Salary: £35,000 – £37,000 per annum

Description:
We require a passionate and experienced Welsh-speaking solicitor with a strong commitment to social justice to lead our legal team and our housing casework. This is a rare opportunity to significantly influence the design and delivery of an exciting new service. The post holder will form part of a small, dedicated team launching a new Law Centre in North Wales.
Summary of Main Responsibilities:
- Help us establish and grow our service to meet the needs of people living across the North Wales region.
- As Senior Solicitor, to provide direction to and supervision of all legal work carried out by the organisation.
- Have conduct of and be responsible for the delivery of advice, casework, support and representation for clients from across North Wales on housing issues.
- Work in partnership with our family solicitor to provide specialist housing advice and representation to people experiencing domestic abuse.
- Identify opportunities to achieve positive change for communities through strategic litigation.
- Work in partnership with community venues, advice agencies and other agencies to ensure the needs of local people are met and that social policy work is co-ordinated to prevent problems occurring wherever possible.
- To inform and participate in our public legal education work, to promote the Law Centre and a rights-respecting culture in North Wales.
- Must be able to meet the Legal Aid Agency supervisor standard for housing. At least three years post qualification experience of specialist Housing Law advice.
