We’re looking for a results-driven individual with experience of providing specialist level housing advice to join us as a Housing Advice, Support & Guidance Worker and take on this challenging role focused on homelessness prevention and tenancy sustainment.

Shelter’s London HUB advice services are delivered from sites in Islington, Hackney and Newham. This role involves working on our London Councils’ contract and providing specialist housing and generalist welfare benefits and debt advice to clients across London. This work is carried out via the telephone and email, as well as face-to-face in the form of outreach services and drop-in sessions.

Paralegal

Brixton Advice Centre is looking to recruit a top calibre law student, graduate, or individual with relevant experience to work with a Consultant Solicitor for five days per week at the Centre from 9.30 am-5.30 pm, starting as soon as possible after interview.
The position will involve conducting initial client interviews and recording their instructions, advising clients, communicating with external bodies, time recording, and general administrative duties.

We require a self-motivated individual with excellent spoken and written communication skills, the ability to quickly absorb legal information and to conduct legal research. You will have good organisational and time management skills and be able to produce documents to tight deadlines. Patience and tact is necessary as you will be assisting vulnerable people.

This long-term position would be ideal for a person seeking experience in the Human Rights field.  Salary circa 23k.

Prospective candidates will be asked to attend a trial day before selection. Interviews will be held on Tuesdays at Brixton Advice Centre, 167 Railton Road, London, SE24 0LU.

Legal Assistant

Brixton Advice Centre is looking to recruit a top calibre law student, graduate, or individual with relevant experience to work full-time with a Consultant Solicitor from 9.30 am-5.00 pm in offices in Barnes, starting as soon as possible after interview.
Initially, you will assist in a billing project. You will have excellent organisational and time management skills, an eye for detail and be able to complete tasks to tight deadlines. Legal billing experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Based on performance, the successful candidate may progress to a paralegal position.

We require a self-motivated individual with excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to quickly absorb legal information and to conduct legal research.

T V Edwards LLP is a growing and vibrant firm bucking the trend for contraction of legal aid services by expanding our team.   We are recruiting for a paralegal for our Social Welfare (Housing/Community Care/Public Law) department.  Successful applicants will be responsible for assisting fee earners with their casework, dealing with new client enquiries, and administrative work.  Our paralegals are provided with superb supervision and are taught the foundations of becoming a successful solicitor. We encourage career progression and whilst we can not guarantee training contracts, we recruit our trainees from paralegals who have worked for the firm for a minimum o f 6 months.
