J is a barrister. He considers housing law to be the single greatest kind of law known to humankind and finds it very odd that so few people share this view.

I’m trying to remember when I first started reading NL. It was late mid to late noughties and I’ve most likely read every post since. I will always remember the very basic AI type animation post from around 2008 (if memory serves) of a homeless applicant approaching a local authority and the hoops being jumped to ensure they got nowhere with that application. It was very funny, but not so in reality.

Condolences to all of Giles family, friends, and colleagues.

In the same vein I have been a professional fan for many years and was incredibly sad to read of Giles’ death. My condolences and I hope that you may be able to consider carry on with this blog as part of his legacy.

Such a terrible loss. My condolences to Giles’ family and friends. Apart from being an avid reader of NL, I was also a client of Giles once, dealing with a rather unpleasant landlord/managing agents and their equally unpleasant solicitor. Giles’ help on the legal, practical and emotional level was immeasurable and my husband and I remained forever grateful.

Giles way of sharing legal information to us non – legal professionals was unique. He made law accessible when other doors were closed to the most vulnerable. Over the years he has enabled me to fight for so many families in East London being made homeless at no fault of their own. I couldn’t have done it without him. God Bless you and bring comfort to those you leave behind. Thank you Giles.
