Citizens Advice in North & West Kent: Housing Advice Specialist

Citizens Advice in North and West Kent (CANWK) has an excellent reputation and plays a vital role in ensuring local people have access to high-quality free housing and homelessness advice.

We are looking to recruit a Housing Advice Specialist with the ability to act as a consultant for generalist Advisers (assisting them with benefits queries to ensure clients receive the highest quality of advice) and to lead on the most complex cases we receive. The successful candidate will have the experience to support colleagues to develop their housing advice skills and the ability to undertake specialist casework including providing assistance at court and, where appropriate, at homelessness review hearings with clients.

Citizen Advice in North and West Kent is the local Citizens Advice for Gravesham, Dartford, Sevenoaks, Swanley and Tonbridge and Malling, serving a population of 500,000. We are a dynamic and forward thinking organisation, working proactively to deliver a wide range of high quality advice services across the area to give people the knowledge and confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are and whatever their problem.

Whilst this is a full-time position, we would be happy to consider applications for part time hours. We pride ourselves on being a supportive employer who takes account of the needs of our staff and provides flexibility when needed.

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications

Location: Flexible. We are open to continued remote working post-Covid. However, post-holder must be willing to travel to North and West Kent for meetings with colleagues and clients when necessary.

Hammersmith & Fulham Law Centre

Housing Solicitor

Salary: £31,000 – £42,000 (depending on experience)

Working hours: 35 per week

Initial contract: 1 year fixed, with a view to extending

Benefits include 30 days annual leave, the possibility of flexible working and significant opportunities for learning and development. We have newly refurbished offices in Hammersmith which are on the Piccadilly, District and Hammersmith & City Line tubes.

We require a solicitor for our small, friendly housing team.

The successful candidate will run their own caseload of legal help and certificated cases for clients and will participate in the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme. We also hold a LAA contract in public Law, so experience of this would be an advantage.
