Junior Solicitor – Housing Law (London)

We are looking for a junior solicitor to join our talented and diverse Housing Department based at our East Dulwich office. You will be working in a team committed to social justice with a wealth of expertise in litigation on behalf of vulnerable clients from the County Court to the Supreme Court.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients’ needs
  • Responsible for all aspects of Litigation work and on occasions, where appropriate providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members
  • Ability to manage appropriate caseload types and complexities
  • Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases
  • Dealing with correspondence
  • Maintaining accurate time costing procedures
  • Implementing any recommendations made by your supervisor following monthly file reviews ensuring that these are dealt with promptly
  • Ensuring compliance with file management.
  • Dealing with all areas of social housing law including disrepair, possession, injunction and homelessness

About you:

  • Have a passion for publically funded work
  • Attention to detail and the confidence to work independently as well as in a team
  • Solicitor with 1+ years’ PQE
  • Solid experience in housing law.
  • Excellent client care skills
  • IT proficiency
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm whilst under pressure

Housing Paralegal

This is a fulltime position with the successful candidate being part of a dynamic and growing team. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to fee earners, to include:

  •   Providing the highest level of client care in the management of client matters
  •   Building relationships with internal and external parties
  •   Ensuring that files are managed effectively, meeting set deadlines, complying withprecedents, creating letters or documents on the case management system
  •   Attending clients and completing public funding applications
  •   Sorting, labelling and indexing large volumes of documents
  •   Liaising with local authorities, housing associations and medical professionals torequest/receive documents
  •   Assisting with the preparation of hearing bundles
  •   Attending and taking notes of internal and client meetings
  •   Ad hoc duties and other related duties as requiredAbout you:
  •   Committed to access to justice and representing vulnerable clients
  •   Attention to detail and the confidence to work independently as well as in a team
  •   Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure
  •   Have completed either a law degree or the GDL. Ideally, candidates will also have completed the LPC, although this is not essential
  •   Keen interest in social justice whether through employment or working within the community

Landlord Action – Legal Executive/Solicitor

Borehamwood or home-based for the right candidate
37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday) | Salary negotiable depending on experience

We’re getting busier so we are looking to recruit another Legal Executive or Solicitor to join our expert team – someone who really knows their landlord and tenant law. Knowledge of CPR Part 55 is essential as well as experience of a current case load of residential possession matters.

We are looking for someone with experience of dealing with residential landlords and agents and has an excellent telephone manner and computer skills.

Experience is needed in drafting possession notices and progressing residential possessions claims. Direct contact with clients and courts will be required. The candidate will need to show they are able to represent landlords at all stages, including defended matters.
