Salary:      £15,800 (NJC Scale Point 36) per annum (FTE £31,601 per annum)

Foundation Legal Team are seeking a Housing Solicitor to join their SQM accredited Housing team.

The successful candidate will be based at our office in York and will work alongside other members of the team who are based there.  Applicants should have experience of working within a legal setting and be able to efficiently manage their own case load.  Experience of Legal Aid work, Court representation and the Legal Aid Agency’s CCMS system would be an advantage.

The Role: You will carry a workload mainly consisting of Legal Aid certificated cases; you will also be working with existing solicitors to provide a seamless service from legal help advice though to court representation; and judicial review, through to appeals where necessary.

You will also work with the LAA caseworkers and Paralegals to ensure the high quality of referrals to the solicitors from Legal Help casework and Housing Possession Court Duty Schemes.

A commitment to a high standard of client care and the flexibility to travel to different office locations are essential requirements of this role.  It will involve regular travel throughout North and West Yorkshire

Foundation Legal Team are seeking a qualified and competent Housing Caseworker / Paralegal to join their SQM accredited Housing team.

The successful candidate will be based at our office in York and will work alongside other members of the team who are based there.  Applicants should have experience of working within a legal setting and be able to efficiently manage their own case load.  Experience of Legal Aid work, Court representation and the Legal Aid Agency’s CCMS system would be an advantage.

You will assist our solicitors to maintain an active caseload that enables homeless people and those with housing problems to enforce their existing rights. This will include litigation in test and lead cases and taking cases to judicial review. You will be expected to take instructions from, and give advice to, clients, take statements from witnesses and attend court with counsel when such work is delegated to you by a solicitor. Drafting letters, statements, representations and other documents, liaising with, instructing and negotiating with third parties, including opponents, experts and counsel and carrying out other fee earning tasks as required.
