Paralegal/Trainee Solicitor

Post: Paralegal/Trainee (Full time)

12 month Fixed Term Contract: possibly leading to a training contract thereafter.

We are seeking to recruit a paralegal to assist our Civil Liberties and Social Welfare Law Team. The person appointed will support a partner in housing and community care work. Subject to meeting the qualifying criteria set by the Head of Department, the post holder will move to a training contract.

Main duties and responsibilities:
The roles consist of taking new enquiries from members of the public seeking help, assisting with case administration and preparation including client contact, legal research, processing evidence, preparing, collating and ordering documentation, attending conferences and court hearings and assisting with the billing process.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Applicants must have at least one year’s experience in Legal Aid and housing casework.

Strong administrative and organisational skills are essential for the post. Touch typing is highly desirable. You will also need to be highly motivated, proactive, self-servicing, enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills, a flexible and professional attitude, and an ability to work on confidential matters and under pressure together with a keen eye for detail.
