The fraudulent document is very clever, quite a literary achievement.  A great deal of work and planning went into this, and Hyman risked career, reputation and prison if caught.  He must have been fairly certain he wouldn&#039;t be.
The intention seems to have been to ensure that the judge in the case did not recuse himself.  Again, lots of speculation - were Hyman and the judge in cahoots - but no real answers.
