Yes, I saw that. Well done Jack.

Straw and McNulty have been really, really bad on this.

It has emerged that Jack Straw as Home Secretary informed Mrs Lawrence that Chindamo would be deported, when he knew full well that the final decision did not rest with him. And, as Foreign Secretary he had a hand in the EU Directive which the Tribunal relied upon.

I recall phoning up the DG of the Prison Service to break the news that Jack Straw was to become the new Minister of Justice, following the Prison Service moving from the Home Office to the Ministry of Justice. It wasn't the DG, but someone close, who answered the phone and "God help us!" was the response.

Hoddy,

I have absolutely no brief for Chindamo's release on parole after serving the minimum sentence. All I was concerned with here was the utter piffle being pumped out about the HRA.

I'm sure that the Spanish feel very strongly about free movement directives leading to the Great British tidemark around the Costa del Sol. It would be interesting to see how many of the HRA/EU-phobes would be outraged when they realised that withdrawal would scupper that retirement in a Spanish villa.

I think that we can all agree that Learco Chindamo has the ABSOLUTE human right to remain in a British gaol for as long as he wishes to exercise that right.

We can't dump our rubbish on Sapin any longer. Just look at the Costa del Sol.
